Laura Okawa

Laura brings to Charis Consulting Group over 20 years’ experience in project management for the State of California, Defense, and private industry.

On behalf of the State and on behalf of a prime contractor, Laura provides practical experience to perform project management with a focus on helping staff develop and expand their skills. Laura has worked with several Health and Human Services projects, leading their Project Management Offices (PMOs), helping them to establish PMOs that meet their project needs and culture as well as relevant industry standards, tailoring their project management standards, aligning to State, PMI, DOD and IEEE standards, and developing processes for working with their vendors.

Laura has established and managed PMOs for large-scale development projects, including FTB’s Enterprise Data to Revenue project and CalSTRS’s Pension Solution project. Laura also has more than 10 years’ experience with State of California procurements, developing RFP requirements, and overseeing State procurements. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Laura’s creativity comes out, not only in her work, but in her love for crocheting items for her many friends.
