The Need

CWDS includes the development of a new child welfare information system (CWS-CARES) to replace several legacy systems that support child welfare professionals in all 58 California counties, providing the vital assistance, oversight, and case management of California’s most vulnerable populations.

The Work

CWS-CARES uses an agile development methodology and human-centered design. Charis provided an agile approach to implementation services for the initial deployment of Digital Services to the counties, including implementation planning and management, organizational change management, user training, and readiness/go-live support. Charis staff also provided business analysis and product strategy expertise to project leadership.

The Results

Charis supported the successful deployment and adoption of several digital services across California. These digital services serve as a key stepping stone to modernizing the system supporting child welfare professionals in the vital work that they do for the children of our community.
